THE AUGUSTUS IS A STORY OF CLASSIC DESIGN, THAT STANDS THE TEST OF TIME.
Many years ago, we created these beautiful fixtures for the 4 Seasons Beverly Hills in collaboration with Lou Catafou Design.
Featuring European art and antiques, this Murano Glass Chandelier was created in the traditional Venetian style of Piastra Glass and is comprised of hundreds of 24K gold infused piastre leaves.
Guests of the hotel have returned to Wired to make this iconic chandelier for their private residences, continuing the appreciation of classic Venetian design.

The word Agosto or August comes from the Latin Augustus meaning consecrated, auspicious or venerable, as was the first emperor of Rome, Augustus Octavianus. Later it’s meaning extended to mean “of imperial qualities” due to his success as emperor as well as his good looks.
Our Agosto chandelier draws its name from the Italian word for August. We use Italian to name many of our pieces that are inspired by or still made by the great glass artists of Italy. Our Agosto features hundreds of laurel leaves made of gold-infused piastre glass created in the traditional venetian style. It’s the epitome of bringing the glories of nature inside the home to create the ultimate luxurious, almost royal experience.
The emperor’s biographer Suetonius described him as
“unusually handsome and exceedingly graceful at all periods of his life, though he cared nothing for personal adornment.
His expression, whether in conversation or when he was silent, was calm and mild.…
He had clear, bright eyes, in which he liked to have it thought that there was a kind of divine power, and it greatly pleased him, whenever he looked keenly at anyone,
if he let his face fall as if before the radiance of the sun. His teeth were wide apart… his hair was slightly curly and inclining to golden; his eyebrows met.…
his fine proportion and symmetry of his figure…”
And he goes on. It sounds like his biographer had a bit of a crush, but Augustus’s looks proved to be inspirational to the best sculptors of the time, for they elevated his features into a moving, never-to-be-forgotten imperial type, which permeate luxurious design.
The same may be said of our Augusto Chandelier that we originally created for The Four Seasons Hotel, which of course was already known for personalized luxurious service geared to easing the stress of travel.
As summer approaches, and we celebrate the luxurious, yet relaxing beauty found in nature, we seek to bring the organic, yet extremely mathematical compositions of nature into the home. What can be more pleasing than golden light shining through hundreds of glass leaves arranged like a giant tierra from the head of the greatest emperor ever known.
