SPUTNIK CHANDELIERS

SPUTNIK CHANDELIERS AND PENDANTS OF ALL SORTS HAVE FLOWN IN TO ADD EXCITEMENT TO INTERIOR DECORATION

They work in at least one room of every home, recall fashions of the 1960s, highlight mid-century modern styles, and add a dynamic of form and function to contemporary themes. Residential trends in open floor plans, high ceilings, large windows, and light paint palettes offer perfect canvases for today’s lighting fashions.

They’re cool, metallic, energy-efficient, and dramatic, fun, but always engaging. They light formal dining rooms, tall foyers, contemporary kitchens, master bedrooms, fashionable baths, and large dressing rooms.

The Rodriguez Vertical, for example, is sculpted in acid-blackened iron with segments linked with industrial age hinges. It extends a full 100-inches from its ceiling mount for a stunning addition to a grand staircase or two-story gallery. Eleven champagne crackled glass globes sit on each arm adding a muted tone to the illumination and working beautifully among neutral paints.

The Morzine, on the other hand, is a tight cluster of bulbous, clear, crackled Murano Perla glass. Twelve of the globes contain bulbs to bounce light off the many others. The lights appear couched among multiple oil-rubbed dark bronze spikes. The chandelier is designed tightly enough to hang more than one where you have the room.

The Volta G, sparkling like the most elegant traditional chandelier yet stunningly contemporary in line. Countless plated polished nickel rods shoot from a center ablaze with 24 halogen bulbs. The rods pierce ribbed glass balls of various sizes to extend the light and engagement. Dazzling and unique, it still evokes romance and grace.

There is also the bold Titan. An artistic assemblage of satin brass, blown clear glass, and blown milky glass, it is sculpture, form, and function. Twelve clear glass shades sit at the ends of industrial style hinged arms. Scattered among them are sharp-ended rods of milky glass hiding LED illumination. Intriguing and starkly contemporary, this pendant is right for today’s kitchens, white environments, and great rooms.

Finally, you will be struck by the Aksel. This artwork hangs 6-feet long from two ceiling bases. The satin brass extensions are thin enough to disappear in the night and light, so a dozen double-ended LED lamps can float undisturbed. The lamps are clutched in the middle by bands of brass each attached to a hinged arm. This assemblage is stark and minimalistic, but it engages thought and conversation, a fixture you’ll appreciate most when it is lit over a long dining table or kitchen counter.
